Bulky Item Pick Up Service

In addition to graffiti, illegal dumping is another problem that plagues the appearance of our communities. Oftentimes, people from outside a community will use a vacant lot or alleyway to dump their unwanted furniture, construction materials, or auto parts. Our bulky item program is designed to relieve local residents from the impact of illegal dumping, and to help our communities actively resist the blight and vandalism that occur in gang areas. The program removes nearly four million pounds of bulky items per year

Bulky item removal service is available in the following communities:

  • Watts
  • Wilmington
  • Boyle Heights (occasional service)

Bulky items that need to be disposed of separately from regular refuse services include:

  • Furniture
  • Mattresses
  • Carpet
  • Appliances
  • Tires
  • Hazardous materials
  • Auto part
  • Building materials

Crews will only remove bulk items; no garbage carts will be emptied.

To Report Bulky items or illegal dumping in Watts or Wilmington, call the Council District 15 Office at (310) 732-4515.

To Report Bulky items or illegal dumping in Boyle Heights, call the Council District 14 Field Office at (323) 526-3059.
