As an alternative to being alone, unsupervised, and on the streets after school, we offer an after school program that provides a safe alternative for area students.
The STEP UP! After School Program begins promptly at the end of the regular school day and continues until 6:00 P.M. each school day.
Our after school program provides:
Special Enrichment Activities
Sports and Recreation
Mobile MacBook computer lab with its own power and satellite Internet
Students participate in activities and games that teach teamwork and rule-governed behavior that increase success in school and help them improve their chance of living a gangfree life.
Currently, the STEP UP! After School Program services over 350 students daily at its three Program Sites. STEP UP! After School Program serves Ambler Elementary and 232nd Place Elementary in the City of Carson, and Wilmington Park Elementary in the City of Wilmington. This program is largely funded by LAUSD's Beyond the Bell Branch, and is free of cost to all participants.
STEP UP! maintains a 20:1 student to staff ratio, serves a nutritious supper meal provided by LAUSD daily, and we serve Grades K-5. We are a network for California Healthy Lean Project.
